Things to do when Range Extender not Connecting to Apple Airport Extreme

This article includes the remedies you require when your range extender is unable to connect to Apple AirPort Extreme after pressing WPS.

On the Apple Airport extreme setup router, you will get to see ‘Add WPS printer’ option on the utility. This will transmit the username to the Range Extender with a casual arbitrary password. Apple invented this property just for connecting the printers. This feature does not help to connect the range extender setup using the WPS button.

While trying to connect your Apple Airport Extreme router to the range extender, if you find there is no RE light on the screen, you can try the following steps on your own to get rid of this complication.

Manually Set up Range Extender with Router

The steps given below will definitely help you to set up the Range Extender with the router manually.

Step-1:

The most effective method for gaining access to the web interface of the range extender is to take the ethernet cable provided inside the packaging. Plug the ends of the cable to your Mac and to the ethernet port of the range extender respectively. Disconnect all the connections with other devices as soon as you are able to establish the connection.

Step-2:

Open the network list displayed on the screen if your Mac fails to support an Ethernet connection. Find the name of your Range Extender present in the list of networks. Look for the respective Service Set Identifier (SSID). Click on it to get connected. If your network is protected, enter the password required to get access to the network. When you are doing this task you will not be able to use the internet from the computer. You will be able to connect your device to the range extender with the help of the management page.

Step-3:

Once you establish the connection between your device and the range extender, open the web browser on your Mac and enter the required address in the address bar at the top of the browser.

Step-4:

After you log in successfully, you will see the window appear on the screen. The username is ‘Admin’ and so is the password, by default.

Step-5:

Once you log in successfully you will find a new window on the screen which will be displaying different fields.

  1. Click on the ‘Next’ button visible in the middle of the screen from the ‘Web management page’.
  2. Select the current location you are living in.
  3. Choose the wireless network that belongs to you.

(Select the SSID or Mac manually if the main router’s wireless network name is hidden.)

  1. Enter the same password of your network which you have already set before.
  2. After this step, the same window gets copied for the main router which generates the range extender to transmit the network with the same Service Set Identifier (SSID). By selecting ‘Customized’ you will get permission to change the settings voluntarily. Now, set the name for the wireless connection of your range extender.
  3. Click on the ‘Next’ button.
  4. Your next job will be examining and analyzing your settings to affirm that the data you have entered is completely accurate.
  5. The final step is, you have to click on the ‘Finish’ button to complete the process.

After you click on the ‘Finish’ button the range extender will reboot to start working with the new settings you applied. This process will need two to three minutes of time to complete.

The given information below signifies that your range extender is set up successfully.

First, the RE light and Wi-Fi signal light gets on.

Second, the status of the connection will show ‘Connected’ and signal strength will be displayed. For another version, you will find a tick mark between the range extender and the main router or the access point (AP). If the Internet has connected with your device, you will also find a checkmark between the main router or the AP and the internet.
